As traditional trade frameworks face unprecedented challenges, a new wave of plurilateral initiatives is rewriting the global playbook and reshaping the terms of trade and sustainable development, as highlighted at the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference in Yaoundé this March. Ongoing work of the Coalition of Trade Ministers on Climate, the Agreement on Climate Change, Trade and Sustainability (ACCTS), and the Integrated Forum on Climate Change and Trade (IFCCT) points towards the emergence of next-gen trade arrangements firmly anchored on sustainable development.
Drawing on the TradeExperettes 2025 Ten Trade Wins report, the TradeExperettes invites you to join us virtually on June 9 2026 at 9:00 EST/ 15:00 CEST for a panel discussion titled Next-gen Trade Arrangements: Driving the Sustainable Development Agenda. The session will examine how these next-gen trade arrangements are rewriting the terms of trade and sustainable development for governments, civil society and the private sector.
The discussion features Elena Cima, Senior Lecturer at ISE-GEDT and at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva, Ieva Baršauskaitė, Lead, Trade and Green Transition at the International Institute for Sustainable Development, and Johanna Lehne, Associate Director in Clean Economy at E3G, and will be moderated by Brendan O’Donnell, Program Director, Climate & Environmental Policy at the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, Washington DC.
